This is a change that probably should have happened a year ago, but from here on, many of the items that I produce will no longer be made to order.
The made to order system worked for a good while, but over time the catalog has just become way too much for me to handle by myself with my current production infrastructure, and just keeping on top of it has started to consume all of my time. This has severely limited time that can be spent on new development and other necessary activity.
So, here's what's changing.
- A number of items on the Can of Beams store are no longer made to order. This means that their availability will be dependent on whether existing ready to ship stock exists. When they run out, they will be unavailable until I can do another production run. I will restock things when I can, but this will be on a flexible schedule that will vary based on other conditions.
- A number of items, generally the more popular items, will remain made to order as usual, and be constantly available. - New items that are released will be made to order for about 4-6 weeks after they are put up for order. After this period, most of them will cease to be made to order and will be available dependent on current stock. So, the best time to get new items will be during that initial release window, after which availability will not be guaranteed.
- Made to Order items are listed as such at the top of their item descriptions. If it doesn't say it is made to order there, then it isn't
I know this is not necessarily something people wanted to hear, but it is necessary for me to continue to manage Can of Beams the way that I want to.
